In Memory Of

In the first 10 years of PRT's history, the company lost seven valuable employees. Our memories of them and their contributions live on.

Ms. Ivy McCreadie, Corporate Executive Secretary

Ivy died on January 21, 1998. She will be remembered for her good humor and for the dedicated work she performed for the Corporate Executive during her eight years of service with PRT.

Mrs. Dorothy Purdue, Foreman, PRT Red Rock

Dorothy died on December 19, 1992. Dorothy began working at Red Rock Nursery when the site was first opened in 1966. Dorothy was well respected by her fellow employees and was a strong supporter of PRT. She provided 26 years of excellent service to PRT Red Rock.

Mrs. Jean Hamann, Nursery Worker, PRT Harrop

Jean died on December 29, 1990, after eight years of service as a good nursery worker. Jean was well liked and respected by her co-workers. She was married to Len Hamann who worked at Kootenay Lake Forest District as the Operations Manager for the B.C. Forest Service.

Ms. Mary Cowan, Seasonal Worker, PRT's Wild Wood Garden Centre

Mary worked for four seasons at the Wild Wood Garden Centre from 1993 to 1996. She was a cheerful, good worker, was well liked by her colleagues, and had received a diploma in horticulture. On January 2, 1998, Mary was killed, along with five other people, in an avalanche while skiing at Kokanee Provincial Park. She was only 23 years old.

Ms. Pam Koerner, Seasonal Worker, PRT Vernon

Pam passed away on November 30, 1997. She worked for four seasons at the PRT Vernon nursery from 1994 to 1997. Pam was a very cheerful, optimistic individual with a smile and a friendly comment for everyone. She always gave 110 percent to her work. The staff at PRT Vernon have dedicated a magnolia tree to Pam's memory -- it will stand as a living example of her wonderful personality.

Simon Gunn and Robert Munro, Summer Students, PRT Silvicare

Simon and Robert were killed in a tragic head-on vehicle collision near Telkwa, B.C. on August 23, 1991. They were travelling on Highway 16 from Kitimat to Prince George in preparation to return to their respective universities and colleges. The loss of their young lives at the beginning of their prospective careers will always be remembered.
