PRT Harrop is located in the southeastern corner of British Columbia near the city of Nelson. This inland location is in plant hardiness zone 5/6, a very favourable environment for growing plants.

This nursery is situated on 18.5 ha (45 acres). Annual production consists of 14 million container seedlings, including both 1+0 greenhouse and 2+0 open compound crops. All commercial tree species planted in Canada and the western United States are grown at PRT Harrop.

Seedlings for Summer Planting - custom growing programs reliably provide well-conditioned seedlings for summer planting, both as 1+0 and 2+0 crops.

2+0 Container Seedlings - the mild climate and consistent snow cover in winter provide an ideal environment for the reliable production of 2+0 spruce seedlings. These well-conditioned, robust and well-balanced plants are economical and provide high value, especially for sites that are subject to vegetative competition and/or snowpress. They are typically used for summer planting on sites where moisture is not limiting, but can also be used for spring planting if grown in large containers.

Specialty Crops - PRT Harrop has developed expertise in growing crops that are difficult to produce such as western redcedar and western white pine 1+0, as well as balsam 2+0 (Abies lasiocarpa).
