PRT Summerland is located in the Central Okanagan, plant hardiness zone 5, on the western shores of Okanagan Lake and 16 km north of Penticton. Agriculture abounds in the area with rambling orchards, lush vineyards and estate wineries. The area enjoys 2,000 hours of sunshine per year and one quarter the rainfall of coastal communities.

The nursery is situated on 5 ha (12 acres) with an annual production of 2 million open compound and 6 million 1+0 greenhouse grown crops. All commercial tree species planted in Canada and the western United States can be grown at PRT Summerland.
